GUWAHATI: The tea manufactured by the bought leaf factories (BLF) of the Lakhimpur district fetched the highest auction price in the state in April 2025. Tea production started in February’s end in the state this year following a directive from the Tea Board of India (TBI). The Tea Board of India published the report of district-wise average prices of BLF teas at auction for the month of April.
The BLFs have been mandated to auction at least 50 per cent of total tea production. BLFs procure green tea leaves from the small tea growers.
According to the TBI report, the BLFs of the Lakhimpur district fetched an average auction price of Rs 229.72 per kg in the month of April 2025. Coming next to Lakhimpur are the BLFs of the Goalpara district with an average auction price of Rs 222.20 per kg, the BLFs of the Sivasagar district with an average auction price of Rs 217.28 per kg.
The average auction prices of BLF teas of other districts are Rs 165.83 per kg in the Biswanath district, Rs 191.87 per kg in the Bongaigaon district, Rs 203.04 per kg in the Cachar district, Rs 162.29 per kg in the Darrang district, Rs 202.35 per kg in the Dhemaji district, Rs 186.62 per kg in the Dibrugarh district, Rs 150.42 in the Golaghat district, Rs 205.95 per kg in the Jorhat district, Rs 187.26 per kg in the Karbi Anglong district, Rs 196 per kg in the Karimganj district, Rs 160 in the Kokrajhar district, Rs 190.51 per kg in the Nagaon district, Rs 165.83 per kg in the Sonitpur district, Rs 180.54 per kg in the Tinsukia district, and Rs 198. 34 in the Udalguri district.
