Guwahati: The Assam government has decided that illegal Bangladeshis entering Assam will be intercepted and immediately pushed back. The legal process of trial has been ruled out in their case as it consumes time. This policy has been in force for some time now, and the Bangladeshi infiltrators were apprehended and handed over to Bangladeshi authorities. Two days ago, inmates of Matia Detention Camp with no appeals pending against them were pushed back across the India-Bangladesh border. Strict monitoring of the Bangladesh border is being done by the security forces, even though no worrying activities have been seen so far.
