Guwahati: School teachers have been directed by the state government to strictly comply with an order not to leave their respective school campuses during school hours to attend to any personal work. They can do so only after school hours, it was stated.

In an order issued by the Assam government’s Department of School Education recently, it was stated that the authority in the department has come to notice that teachers of elementary and secondary schools frequently visit the Secretariat, Directorates concerned, District Offices, and Block Offices to pursue personal matters during school hours. It was stressed that such actions disrupt normal classes and adversely affect the academic routine of the respective schools where they are employed.

In view of this, the order issued by the department contained instructions on the matter for strict compliance: Teachers are instructed not to leave their schools during school hours to pursue personal matters in the Secretariat, Directorates, District Offices, or Block Offices.

Moreover, that any such visits for personal matters must strictly be made only after school hours.

The order urged all authorities concerned to ensure adherence to the order to maintain the regular functioning of schools and uphold academic integrity.
