GUWAHATI: In a first, naam prasanga with the accompaniment of the staccato of the khul and the oompah of the taal (a big clanger of brass) started resonating on the bank of the Ganga at Prayagraj from today. Ever since its creation, such devotional songs and instrumental effects have been reverberating in Assam, on the bank of the Brahmaputra. An Akhand Bhagawat Path also began in the morning of Tuesday. The troupe from Assam has definitely made their vocal timbre heard amid the chanting of the currently underway Mahakumbh Mela at Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh.
A troupe from Uttar Kamalabari Satra of Majuli, led by Xatradhikar Janardan Dev Goswami, left for Prayagraj on January 17. The troupe reached Prayagraj in the evening of January 20.
With a naamghar erected at Prayagraj before their arrival, the team from Assam placed the Bhagawat taken from Majuli on the Guru Ason (mentor’s seat) on Tuesday morning. The naamghar has the portraits of Srimanta Sankardev and Madhabdev on either side of the mentor’s seat. The troupe of devotees started naam prasanga since the morning. The Akhand Bhagwat Path will continue without any interruption for seven days. The seven days will also witness a bhaona of the Mahapurush.
