Amit Shah: The nation has given due recognition to Bodofa

KOKRAJHAR: Honouring the legacy of Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma, the statue of Bodofa was ceremonially unveiled at Lala Lajpat Rai Marg and the newly re-named Bodofa UN Brahma road inaugurated in New Delhi today by Union Home Minister Amit Shah in the presence of Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, Chief of BTC Pramod Boro, Ministers- UG Brahma, CEM of BKWAC Mihiniswar Basumatary and Chairman Anil Basumatary, president of ABSU Dipen Boro, President of the Bodo Sahitya Sabha Dr Surath Narzary, Union Minister of state for External Affairs Pabitra Margherita, Minister UG Brahma, MPs- Rwngwra Narzary, Joyanta Basumatary, Assam Chief Secretary Ravi Kota and other esteemed dignitaries. Amit Shah said the nation has given due recognition to Bodofa UN Brahma, though he hailed from a small tribal community. The NDA government believes in equal justice for all downtrodden communities for which Bodofa fought, he said.
The Union Home Minister said Bodofa was not only for the Bodos of Bodoland but for the tribal people who united the tribal communities to raise their voices for equal justice. He called upon all the people of Bodoland not to feel an inferiority complex but to open up their voices to address their issues. "The Bodo brothers who went to the jungle and took up arms have come back to the mainstream after the BTR accord in 2020. Over 10,000 youths who took arms have returned to normal life under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's initiative, and today Assam emerges towards the path of peace," he said.
Shah also said Bodofa took out a huge mass rally in New Delhi and connected the tribal communities for equal rights and justice. He said there had been no necessity to go for movement in Bodoland, as the government of India has taken due response for the solution of any problem. For the growth and development of Assam, the Modi government has taken strong initiatives. NE is the strength of the nation, which plays an important role in the transformation of India.
Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma said it was a historic day in the history of Assam, as an important road in Delhi has been named after him, besides the unveiling of a statue. He said Bodofa took the Bodoland movement forward with Gandhi's philosophy. He also said Bodofa's movement was not for a separate nation but within the Indian constitution. There had been several instances of violence, arms movement and several hundreds of people lost their lives, but after the Narendra Modi-led NDA government came to power, the Bodo problems got solved one after another in a fast manner. He also said Delhi is the capital of India, and great leaders are given due honour, and in line with that the government of India had initiated the installation of a statue of Bodofa in New Delhi to honour his legacy. He further said Assam also witnessed scores of violence, and people feared to visit Assam, but now the people of Assam have witnessed peaceful coexistence and have forgotten the violence.
In his speech, BTC Chief Pramod Boro said Bodofa is given due respect at the initiative of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma. He said the Bodo problems had been being solved. Bodofa UN Brahma started a democratic mass movement 35 years ago, and his movement was not against India but for the equal rights and justice of all downtrodden communities, he said, adding that his vision for equal rights and justice had been honoured today. The problems of tribal communities were not heard earlier, but after the coming of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the issues of tribal communities are given due importance. He thanked the Prime Minister, Home Minister and Assam Chief Minister.
Delhi Chief Minister Reka Gupta in her speech said Delhi is itself a mini India where great leaders of all communities stay here, and thus great Bodo leaders are also in New Delhi. She said Bodofa UN Brahma, who also came from the Bodo community, is given due honour with the installation of his statue and the naming of a road in New Delhi
In the morning, the president of the ABSU, Dipen Boro, hoisted the organizational flag at half-mast at the premises of Bodoland House, Kailash Colony in New Delhi after the morning prayers, while the president of the BSS, Dr Surath Narzary, paid floral tribute at the statue of Bodofa.
Talking to reporters, ABSU president Dipen Boro said the student union had been working to protect the legacy of Bodofa, who worked and dedicated himself to the uplift of the Bodos and other downtrodden communities. He said Bodofa selflessly worked to make Bodos a master race in the world. He also said to honour his legacy for the backward communities, the ABSU began establishing UN Academies across Assam, the Bodofa UN Brahma Shouldier of Humanity Award and statues in various places. He also said the government of BTR had also launched the Bodofa UN Brahma Super-50 Mission for aspirant students in Engineering, Medical and Civil Services, Bodofa UN Brahma Livelihood Mission for Sustainable Development for the unemployed youths, etc. He thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma for taking due initiative for the installation of the statue of Bodofa in New Delhi, the naming of a road in his name.
