GUWAHATI: The state cabinet is set for an expansion on December 7, though the number of inductions of new ministers is not known.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma confirmed today that the state cabinet would be expanded at noon on December 7. He said, “One induction from the Barak Valley is confirmed. For more induction, I need to get the final nod from the Prime Minister tomorrow. I have already submitted the list with details of the cabinet vacancies and the names of probable candidates to fill them to the prime minister.”
On the presidential post of the state committee of the BJP, the Chief Minister said, “Generally a party president can serve two consecutive terms in the BJP. From that point of view, Bhabesh Kalita’s continuation for the second term is almost final, provided the party high command does not want to bring in a new face.”
