GUWAHATI: The commissioning of three units of the Lower Subansiri Hydroelectric Project (LSHEP) of NHPC has been scheduled for May 2025, and the remaining five units in May 2026. Union Minister of State for Environment, Forest, and Climate Change Kirti Vardhan Singh informed the Rajya Sabha of this today. He said this while replying to a question from Assam MP Ajit Kumar Bhuyan.
The Union Minister said, "As per information received from NHPC, three units of 750 MW (3X250 MW) are scheduled for commissioning in May 2025, and the remaining 5 units of 1250 MW (5X250 MW) are scheduled for commissioning in May 2026. The revised cost estimate of the project is Rs. 26,075.54 crore, including a cost escalation of Rs. 19,790.54 crore."
The project is under construction at Gerukamukh along the Assam-Arunachal border.
