Dilip Kumar Baruah no more

GUWAHATI, April 28: Former Cotton College Principal, eminent economist and litterateur Dilip Kumar Barua passed away today. He was 73. He was under treatment in a hospital in Guwahati. Born at Sipajhar in Darrang to Late Swarlata and Satyath Baruah, Dilip Kumar Barua had his schooling at Shillong and passed matriculation in 1957, did MA in Economics from the Delhi University and wrote several books for Gauhati University, Dibrugarh University and higher secondary level of education in the State. He also served as a joint director of Assam Administrative Staff College from 1989 to 1992.

Besides being a member of the State Planning Board, Barua, a member of the Second State Fince Commission, a guest lecturer at IIT Guwahati, Gauhati University and Assam Don Bosco University. He also served as a consultant in State-level studies, Administrative Reforms Commission, Government of India. He was also a member of the Independent Public Committee for Evaluating the Magement and Implementation of Solid Waste Magement in Guwahati and the State Audit Advisory Board.  

His mortal remains were cremated at bagraha Crematorium in Guwahati later in the day today.

Chief Minister Sarbanda Sonowal, former chief ministers Tarun Gogoi and Prafulla Kumar Mahanta, AGP president Atul Bora, working president Keshab Mahanta, State BJP president Ranjit Kumar Das, APCC president Ripun Bora, AASU chief adviser Samujjal Bhattacharya, AASU president Dipanko Kumar th, general secretary Lurinjyoti Gogoi, NESO chairman  Samuel B Jyrwa and secretary general m Prakash condoled the death of the educationist.
