GUWAHATI: Enrollment of unemployed in employment exchanges is going online in sync with filling up one lakh vacancies in its various departments.

Gone are the days when one had to stand in a queue to enrol one's name in an employment exchange. The NIC (National Informatics Centre) is developing a device for making online enrollment possible in employment exchanges in the state. The Skill, Employment and Entrepreneurship Department is going to launch an employment portal shortly. The online registration in employment exchanges has already got Cabinet approval. One can enrol one's name in an employment exchange without visiting it physically when this portal becomes operational.

The existing manual database will remain valid up to March 31, 2022.

The permanent addresses of candidates registering their names online will have a link with their Aadhaar for verification. The Aadhaar link with addresses will also help in the verification process. Candidates can enrol their names online in employment exchanges in Assam only if their Aadhaar cards have permanent addresses in the state.

Candidates who do not have Aadhaar cards but want to enrol their names in employment exchanges will have to approach their employment exchanges with relevant documents for physical verification. This option is valid up to March 31, 2022.
