Final photo electoral roll for the Lok Sabha polls 2019 published

GUWAHATI: With the publishing of the final photo electoral roll, 2019 on Wednesday on the directive of Election Commission of India (ECI), the State Election Department is now ready for conducting the Lok Sabha polls in the State.

As per the latest poll rolls, the total electors in Assam are 2,17,60,604. Of them, male voters are 1,11,32,782 while female voters number 1,06,27,822.

In the last electoral roll of 2018, the total voters were 2,12,47,854. Therefore, there is an increase of 5,12,750 voters in the 2019 electoral roll compared to that of 2018 indicating a rise of 2.42 percentage.

District-wise, the highest number of voters in the electoral roll, 2019 is in Nagaon (13,91,993). Analyzed according to LAC (Legislative Assembly Constituency), the highest number of voters has been registered in Dispur (3,79,298) while the lowest number of voters has been registered in Thowra LAC (1,07,895). The number of voters in the three remaining LACs of Kamrup (M) – leaving aside Dispur LAC mentioned above – are: Jalukbari: 1,92,229; Guwahati (East): 2,24,412; and Guwahati (West): 2,74,193. In the Majuli LAC which incidentally is the constituency of Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, the voters number 1,25,016.
