GUWAHATI, May 9: Former Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi has called for a referendum on the much-debated, controversial Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016. Talking to the media at Rajiv Bhawan here on Wednesday, Gogoi said: “There’s no reason hold a any separate session on the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016. A direct referendum would suffice. The issue has created unrest in Assam, but the Chief Minister has been playing the role of a mute bride. Playing second fiddle like B team to the BJP, the AGP is out to mislead the people of the State in a dramatic way.”
