'Congress forged alliance with 'anti-India forces' in Bengal, Kerala, Assam'

DIGBOI: Sounding the poll bugle at Margherita in Tinsukia district here on Sunday afternoon, Union Home Minister Amit Shah went hammer and tongs at the Congress and its alliance political parties. Shah asserted that there will be no more agitations in the State and infiltration will be a thing of the past in the next five years if the BJP is voted in power.
Praising the BJP-led alliance government in Assam, Shah said that the State government has brought tremendous development in Assam during the last five years, adding this was not possible during the previous 15 years of Congress rule in the State.
Addressing an election rally at the Rajiv Gandhi Playground at Borgolai in Margherita, Shah urged the electorates to vote for the BJP candidate from Margherita, Bhaskar Sharma. This seat will go to the polls during the first phase slated on the March 27.
Shah on Sunday said that to win the upcoming Assembly elections the Congress has forged an alliance with "anti-India forces" – All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) in Assam, Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) in Kerala and the Indian Secular Front (ISF) in West Bengal.
Addressing another rally at Margherita in Tinsukia district, Shah said that the alliance between the Congress led by Rahul Gandhi and AIUDF headed by Badruddin Ajmal cannot perform better for the welfare of Assam.
Shah said, "While the Muslim League is trying to devastate the country, Ajmal's party was never against illegal infiltration.
"Rahul Gandhi and Ajmal's coalition would not be able to check the infiltration into Assam from across the border. BJP never did vote bank politics," said the former BJP national president.
The BJP-led governments in Assam as well as at the Centre are forming a new Assam which is free from corruption, terrorism, chronic floods, infiltration and agitations, Shah added.
"More than 2,000 extremists have surrendered. The historic Bodo Accord was signed last year. Complete peace is prevailing in Assam. There are no agitations and terrorism in Assam now as the Central government headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has solved the basic problems of the State."
The Union Home Minister further said that not only in Assam, the BJP government wants to solve the flood-related problem permanently in the entire north-eastern region and hence a satellite survey-based planning is underway and a large water reservoir would also be created to solve the water-logging problem.
Highlighting the developmental projects, including new medical colleges, undertaken in the Tinsukia district and other parts of Assam, Shah said the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government has approved Rs 46,000 crore gas and oil-based projects and Rs 8,000 crore gas royalty, even though these were pending for many years during the previous Congress regime.
Highly appreciating the COVID-19 management by the current BJP-led Assam government, the Union Home Minister said Rs 12,000 each has been given to 47,000 pregnant women and the amount would be increased to Rs 18,000.
"For the tea garden workers, the Assam government has undertaken many welfare schemes and more than a lakh 'pattas' (land rights) were given to the indigenous people."
"Let me know what is your choice– violence or peace, gun or employment, infiltration or development? Can Rahul with Ajmal put an end to infiltration in Assam? If you vote for the Congress, it will go to Ajmal's AIUDF – one which is being viewed by many in Assam as the protector of illegal immigrants," said Shah.
"The land at the Kaziranga National Park and the Xatras (Vaishnavite prayer centres) that were encroached upon by infiltrators, have been cleared by the BJP-led government in the State," pointed out Shah. He further said, "The BJP-led government in Assam has been termed as the best State in the country in terms of its proactive role, performance, and services to its people during the COVID 19 pandemic period."
Shah also addressed a rally at Nazira.
Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal Sonowal said, "Strategically located at a few kilometres bordering Arunachal Pradesh and Myanmar, Margherita would soon be known across the globe specifically for a special reason; and the process has been already initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi."
"Ample avenues will be created for the promotion trade, cultural assimilation, and job opportunities for the youths of Margherita," further assured the Chief Minister while hinting about the efforts of the Central government to reopen the historic Stilwell Road connecting Margherita's Ledo to Myanmar. Sonowal urged the electorates to vote for Bhaskar Sharma for the overall development of Margherita and make him win the election with a huge margin.
Addressing the gathering, State Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma compared the Congress with an old currency note. He said that the Congress has no more substance in it; it is without any identity and status in the present scenario.
