GUWAHATI: Following an incident of physical abuse of two young girls on a moving public transport vehicle, personnel from the Indian Army were beaten up by the public and then handed over to the Guwahati Police.
The incident took place somewhere near the Assam Engineering College campus. The jawan named Dipak Singh, belonging to Madhya Pradesh, was going by tempo from the Assam Engineering College campus to Jalukbari when he inappropriately touched two of his female co-passengers on the tempo. Following the incident, the girls raised a hue and cry, which led to the public gathering at the location and roughing up the personnel. After that, the public handed him over to the Jalukbari Police.
It has been said that the perpetrator is older than 50 years of age and was drunk at the time of the incident.
