Jagiroad/ Sarukhetry, April 7: Accusing the BJP of spreading hatred, Congress president Sonia Gandhi today cautioned voters in Assam against the saffron party's "commul politics".

Addressing two rallies in the State, Gandhi said the danger of commulism is looming large over Assam as "the BJP is engaged in spreading commulism and dividing the society which has thrived for ages on the principles of love, peace and harmony".

"When he goes to foreign countries, Modiji talks big about the tion. But when in the country, he is engaged in spreading hatred," Gandhi said as the Congress continued to target the Prime Minister in the election campaign.

Claiming that while the Congress was working to unite the people and the BJP busy dividing them, Gandhi said Assam was a shining example of harmony with its people following the teachings of Sankardeva and Azan Fakir.

"Modiji and his ministers are moving across the State making false promises and creating faultlines among the communities," she said.

She said that the BJP is being controlled from gpur - the RSS headquarters.

The Congress president blamed the NDA government for rising farmers' suicides in the country and demanded "accounts" of "what the Modi government did in the last two years."

"Is this the change Modiji was talking about in the Lok Sabha election campaign?" she asked.

Referring to the dismissal of Congress governments in Aruchal Pradesh and Uttarakhand, Gandhi said the BJP had no faith in the Constitution and in democracy.

She accused the Prime Minister of stifling the voices of common people.

"Fifteen years ago there was insecurity, instability and violence in Assam. It was Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi and his ministers who worked hard to bring peace, development and progress in the State.  Educatiol institutions for youths, employment to lakhs of people under MGNREGA, 30 per cent reservation for women, schemes for development of the girl child, improvement in the health sector are some of major initiatives taken by the Assam government under the Congress," she highlighted.

Gandhi claimed that dedication of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi and other Congress members brought about the "change" in Assam.
