ITANAGAR: Adding grandeur to the famous Kongmu-Kham (Golden Pagoda) in the Namsai district of Arunachal Pradesh, two new structures - an ordination hall and a Buddha temple – were dedicated to the people on Wednesday by His Eminence Loung-Phow Somphon from Thailand in the presence of state Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein and others.
The ordination hall and the Buddha temple were donated by Mein and his family members, while the golden statue was donated by the Saphaboon Foundation of Thailand and Sanfrancisco and Laongdao Boon Prasert from the United States of America.
The Buddha relic was gifted by His Eminence Sangha-Raja of Sri Lanka.
Abbot of the Kongmu-Kham Vimalatissa informed that the Buddha relic which was enshrined into the golden statue at Buddha temple on Wednesday, was kept in Thailand for the last two years due to Covid and it has brought good fortune and prosperity wherever it was kept.
He added that the Buddha's relic has been brought with the hope that it will bring good fortune and prosperity to the North East.
Mein in his address to the devotees expressed his gratitude to Loung-Phow Somphon and all the monks from Thailand, for coming all way to dedicate the ordination hall and the temple.
The Deputy Chief Minister also conveyed his gratitude to Chief Minister Pema Khandu for donating the main gate of Golden Pagoda and to DFO Namsai and his officials for carrying out the beautification of the premises.
Mein lauded the Saphaboon Foundation Thailand and Sanfrancisco besides Laongdao Boon Prasert for donating the golden statue of Buddha.
It is pertinent to mention here that apart from the religious activities, Kongmu-Kham becomes a centre of tourist attraction in Eastern Arunachal which receives the highest footfall of tourists on weekends because of its serene environment and beautiful landscape.
The addition of the two beautiful structures in Thai style would attract more tourists not only from North East India but also from Buddhist pilgrimage from South East Asian countries.
