GUWAHATI, June 13:  An Assembly panel headed by BPF legislator Imanuel Musahary has urged the State government to adopt a clear-cut policy for appointment of local unemployed youths for grade III and grade IV posts of public sector enterprises like ONGC.

The Employment Review Committee of Assam Assembly in a meeting at Dispur on Thursday decided to recommend to the State government to adopt a policy for appointment of local youths in public sector enterprises in the State.

The House panel recommendation came following its recent visit to ONGC regiol office at zira, after jira MLA and Leader of Opposition Debabrata Saikia filed a complaint to the review panel regarding appointment of youths from outside in third and fourth grade posts in ONGC.

The panel felt that due to lack of clear appointment policy, a huge number of youths from outside the State are being appointed in third and fourth grade posts in public sector enterprises like ONGC.

During the Assembly team’s visit to the ONGC office at zira, the authorities informed that appointments are made as per guidelines laid down by ONGC headquarters at Dehradun.

Debabrata Saikia in his complaint to the Hiuse panel had informed that in a recent appointment process of specially-abled youths in grade III posts, as many as 6 out of 10 appointees were from outside the State.

The panel during its fact finding mission to the ONGC office at zira found Saikia’s allegation to be true.

The panel further said that on seeking information whether the ONGC authorities collected mes of unemployed youths from the local employment exchange office, it did not receive any reply.

The House panel comprised among others BPF MLA Imanuel Mushahary, MLAs Utpal Dutta, Rupak Sharma, Thaneswar Basumatary and Hafiz Bashir Ahmed Qasimi.
