Final photo poll roll 2023 published

GUWAHATI: Assam's electorate has registered an increase of over 2.3 lakh voters in the final photo electoral roll 2023 published by the Election Department, Assam on Friday in accordance with the Election Commission of India's (EC) recently directive. This marks an increase of 0.96 per cent in comparison to the draft integrated photo electoral roll which was published on November 9, 2022.
According to data issued by the state's Election Department, the total number of voters in the state is now 2,41,11,743. Out of this number, 1,21,28,543 are male voters, 1,19,82,804 are female voters and 396 are third-gender voters.
Constituency-wise, the highest number of 4,23,307 voters are registered in the Dispur LAC under the Kamrup (M) district. There are 412 polling stations in this LAC which cater to 2,08,908 male, 2,14,385 female and 14 are third-gender voters.
On the other hand, the lowest number of 1,19,378 voters are registered in the Thowra LAC under the Sivasagar district. There are 145 polling stations which cater to 59,920 male voters , 59,457 female voters and one third-gender voter.
In so far as other Assembly constituencies under the Kamrup (M) district are concerned, the Jalukbari LAC represented by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has registered 2,06,948 voters, of whom 1,01,102 are male voters, 1,05,842 are female voters and six third-gender voters. The Gauhati East LAC has registered 2,43,232 voters, including 1,19,789 male, 1,23,434 female and nine third-gender voters. The Gauhati West LAC has registered 3,05,980 voters, of whom 1,50,432 are male, 1,55,537 female and 11 are third-gender.
District-wise, the Nagaon district has the highest number of 15,69,701 voters, while Majuli LAC has the lowest number of 1,31,803 voters because it is the sole Assembly constituency in the district. The Nagaon district, on the other hand, has eight LACs. Significantly, the number of third-gender voters is also the highest in the Nagaon district (96 voters).
As per the final photo electoral roll, there are a total of 28,205 polling stations across the state.
It may be mentioned here that the integrated draft electoral roll for Assam consisted of 2,38,81,196 voters. Thereafter, the process of filing of claims and objections commenced from November 9, 2022 and lasted till December 8, 2022 and finally the disposal of claims and objections was completed by January 10, 2023.
As per the final publication, the Elector Population Ratio (EPR) in the final electoral roll 2023 is 638 and the Roll Gender Ratio (RGR) stands at 988. The EPR and RGR saw an improvement over the draft electoral roll, which was 632 (EPR) and 986 (RGR) respectively. The total number of electors in the age group of 18 to 19 years is 4,01,571. The total number of 80+ electors is 3,11,032, while the total number of Persons with Disabilities (PwD) voters is 1,69,573, out of which 86,105 are male, 83,458 are female and 10 are third-gender.
As per the EC's decision, the special summary revision (SSR) of the photo electoral roll was Assam was carried out using a new software named ERO-Net. The EC's pilot project also covered the states of Bihar, Goa and Uttarakhand.
According to Chief Electoral Officer of Assam Nitin Khade, continuous updation of the photo electoral roll of the state will resume from Saturday, January 28.
