GUWAHATI: The Assam Government today laid the report of Justice Brojendra Prasad Katakey in the Assembly. The report recommended an inquiry by an independent investigating agency like the CBI to ascertain individuals and officials involved in rat-hole coal mining in Digboi Forest Reserve.

The State Government formed the one-man commission of inquiry with Justice Brojendra Prasad Katakey as the chairman in July 2020 to inquire into the allegations of illegal coal mining activities in Saleki proposed Reserve Forest and in the Tikok Open Cast Project area, as well as in other reserve forest areas under Digboi Forest Reserve by different persons and organizations.
