GUWAHATI: Seven persons have been arrested for alleged corruption in the distribution of rice under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana. The Chief Minister’s Special Vigilance Cell (SVC) arrested seven persons. These include the secretary of Dhekiajuli Samabay, Hemanta Talukdar, and supplier Surajit Senapati. According to sources, the seven arrested persons had misappropriated around 2,000 quintals of rice under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana meant for distribution among poor beneficiaries. The accused were presented before the special court today. The court remanded them to four days of police custody.
