State Innovation and Transformation Aayog reconstituted

Guwahati, Dec 10: The State government has remed the earlier State Planning Board, Assam as State Innovation and Transformation Aayog (SITA) through a cabinet decision recently and the Governor of Assam recommended the decision of the State Government and accordingly a notification was issued by the Planning and Development Department.

The Chief Minister of Assam will be the Chairman of SITA like in the case of earlier State Planning Board, Assam.

Dipok Kumar Barthakur, an eminent entrepreneur and a tiol level Socio-Cultural activist has been appointed as the Vice-Chairman of SITA with the rank and desigtion of a Cabinet Minister.

The functions of the State Innovation and Transformation Aayog is to advise and co-ordite the responsibilities and functioning of Panchayatiraj Institutions, Autonomous, Territorial and Development Councils of different communities of Assam.

SITA will look into the causes of Sick industries, industrial and infrastructural development, revival of tea industry, Assam Accord, exploring water resources and take action for 'Make in Assam' and 'Act East Policy'.

The activities of the Aayog will be guided by the Sustaible Development Goals and the vision for the State of Assam. The Vice-Chairman of SITA will also closely co-ordite with the NEC and NITI Aayog.
