Tackle coronavirus situation, CM Sarbananda Sonowal tells Health department

GUWAHATI: Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has asked the top officials of the State Health and Family Welfare department to keep the entire machinery prepared to deal with any situation emanating from COVID-19 infection in the State.

Sonowal reviewed the situation in detail in the wake of COVID-19 outbreak across many countries and its fallout in India with a special focus on measures deployed at the State’s airports to screen passengers.

The Chief Minister asked Principal Secretary of Health and Family Welfare department Samir Sinha to keep the entire Health machinery prepared to deal with any situation emanating from novel coronavirus infection. He also reviewed the steps taken so far. He said that though no cases have been detected in the State, the utmost care and precaution should be taken to keep the State aloof from novel Coronavirus infection. He also maintained that the Health department’s men and machinery in the State should be adequately sensitized to face any contingency. He also asked the Health department to generate mass awareness and encourage people to adopt personal hygiene to defeat any sort of eventuality.

Chief Minister’s Legal Advisor Santanu Bharali, Chief Secretary Kumar Sanjay Krishna, Director General of Police Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta, and others were present at the meeting, a press release said.
