Tezpur Sizzles: 5.1°C Above Normal as IMD Warns of Hot, Muggy Weather

RMC Guwahati forecasts continued hot, humid weather over Assam; special bulletin warns conditions to persist till Saturday afternoon.

Guwahati: The IMD's Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC), Guwahati, has predicted that hot and humid conditions will continue to persist over Assam in the next 24 hours. The RMC issued a Special Weather Bulletin at 1.30 pm today regarding the weather conditions likely to prevail over Assam until Saturday afternoon.

The bulletin says, "Due to prevailing mainly clear to partly cloudy sky conditions during daytime and high solar insolation, maximum temperatures are likely to be more than 35°C at a few places over Assam. Maximum temperatures are very likely to be above normal by 3°C to 5°C over Assam during the next 24 hours."

The maximum temperature in Guwahati today was recorded as 36.2°C, which was 3.9°C above the normal. The Upper Assam town of Dibrugarh recorded a maximum temperature of 34.8°C, which was 4.1°C above the normal. Jorhat recorded a maximum temperature of 35.7°C, marking a departure of 3.2°C above the normal. In the Barak Valley town of Silchar, the maximum temperature recorded today was 35.6°C. North Lakhimpur recorded a maximum temperature of 34.8°C, and Lumding recorded a high of 37°C.

The highest maximum temperature recorded in the state yesterday was at Tezpur with 36.8°C. The maximum temperature was 36.5°C, which is 5.1°C more than the normal.

Regarding the prevailing high temperature in Guwahati, the RMC stated that the season's highest maximum temperature of 37.8°C was recorded in the city on June 14, 2025.
