Guwahati, Nov 14: A top NDFB (S) commander, wanted by the NIA in connection with last year's Adivasi carge, was gunned by security forces late last night in Chirang district. Acting on a specific information, a joint team of army and police neutralized the rebel at Begudum under Runikata police station. The NDFB(S) commander, identified as Jaola Basumatary, is a resident of Deigudung village in Chirang and was directly involved in the December 2014 Kokrajhar carge, where Adivasis were killed in cold blood. The NIA had registered three cases against him.  A pistol along with some ammunition was seized from the slain militant, said defence spokesman Lt Col Suneet Newton.
