Guwahati: The Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) has fined a resident of G.S. Road Rs 10,000 for illegally dumping construction and demolition (C&D) waste on the roadside. The action is part of GMC’s ongoing drive to curb illegal waste disposal and ensure cleanliness across the city.

In a statement shared on the social media platform X, GMC emphasized the importance of responsible waste management, saying, “GMC imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on a citizen of G.S. Road for dumping construction and demolition waste on the roadside. GMC urges citizens not to dump C&D wastes in public places to avoid penalties.”

This penalty follows similar actions taken earlier this week, where residents of Machkhowa and GMCH Road were fined on December 3 for creating unhygienic conditions by irresponsibly discarding waste in their localities.

GMC has reiterated its appeal to residents to adhere to waste management norms and warned of stringent penalties for violators to maintain public hygiene and order.
