GUWAHATI: A senior police officer in Guwahati has sparked outrage on social media after allegedly disregarding traffic rules and causing disruption in Silpukhuri, an area already plagued by ongoing flyover construction. Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Manjit Kumar Buragohain reportedly parked his car in front of a residential lane on MRD Road, blocking access for hours. When confronted by a local resident, the officer allegedly responded, "Tell everyone I'm the DSP; they won't dare ask me to move my car again." This brazen display of authority has ignited debates about the accountability of public servants tasked with enforcing the law. The resident's tweet detailing the incident quickly gained traction online, with many expressing outrage over the officer's behaviour. Director General of Police (DGP) GP Singh has assured prompt action, stating, "Ma'am, appropriate remedial measures would be taken. Thanks for pointing out. No one has the right to use his/her position in this manner at all."
