NEW DELHI: Bhavina Patel a para table tennis player is the first Indian to secure a para table tennis medal and stormed into semi-final at the Tokyo Metropolitian Gymnasium.

In a tweet, the #Tokyo2020 for India has announced, "1st Indian to secure a #ParaTableTennis medal. Lost her opening match and then won 3 in a row. In her quarter-final match, she trailed just once. Take a bow, @BhavinaPatel6. Stay tuned for her semi-final tomorrow!".

Announcing Bhavina in Semifinal, the Sports Authority of India has written on their Twitter, "Bhavina In Semifinal!! @BhavinaPatel6 wins her Class 4 Quarterfinal match 3-0 (11-5, 11-6, 11-7) against #SRB Borislava Rankovic Peric to advance to the SemifinalBrilliant performance by Bhavina! Let's cheer loudly for her with #Cheer4India #Praise4Para".

After a sensational show in Tokyo, Mirabai Chanu is back in action and has resumed training for the upcoming events with an eye on Paris 2024. "Back in action! #missionparis2024," Mirabai Chanu tweeted. The Indian weightlifter on Wednesday said everyone should support girls who want to enter the field of sports.

"When I started, I was just 14 years old, I had to go through many problems. Earlier, there were not many facilities and my family had to go through a lot. I had to deal with hardships but my family fully supported me during my training days. My parents always encouraged me to follow my dream. I am happy that I could fulfill their dream. I received a lot of support from the government. I request everyone to support girls who want to enter the field of sports," Chanu said.
