Kim Kardashian, the billionaire reality TV star and fashion tycoon, has been accused of cultural appropriation yet again.
The 'Keeping Up With The Kardashians' diva shared a set of stunning pictures wearing 'Om' earrings.
The 40-year-old has been chastised for wearing a Hindu religious emblem as an accessory.
The photo of her flaunting the Hindu sacred symbol 'Om' earings during a photoshoot did not sit well with scores of Hindus around the globe, who expressed their displeasure on social media.
While some people found the usage of the Hindu sacred symbol for a casual photoshoot offensive, others irked by her continuous attempt to appropriate different cultures trolled her on Twitter. Here are a few responses from the netizens:
Kim was rebuked last year for wearing traditional Indian jewellery, including golden bangles and a maang teeka.
Kim Kardashian isn't the first celebrity to be accused of cultural appropriation. The actress has been criticized in the past for culturally copying braids and over-tanning her complexion.
In the wake of a legal suit filed by seven former employees at Kim's Hidden Hills home, she was recently reprimanded for breaking California labour regulations.
They accused Kim of withholding taxes from their paychecks and not remitting the money to the government.
They also claimed that Kim did not pay overtime, did not allow meal or rest breaks, and had a 16-year-old on staff work more than the 48 weekly hours allowed for his age.
One plaintiff claimed that he was fired after raising such concerns.
Kim is currently going through a divorce with rapper Kanye West. After seven years of marriage, she filed for divorce on February 19. North, 7, Saint, 5, Chicago, 3, and Psalm, 23 months, are their four children. Kanye has requested joint custody of the children, two months after Kim Kardashian filed for divorce.
