KOLKATA: After the second phase of the West Bengal Assembly Elections held on April 1, BJP National President JP Nadda claimed that West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is trying to contest elections from another constituency as she is aware of losing Nandigram. He further said that the saffron party will be forming a government in the poll-bound state.

Meanwhile taking a dig at the saffron party, the Trinamool Congress TMC has challenged the BJP to look for a safer seat in 2024, as they will be challenged in Varanasi for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Nadda in an interview stated that as per an information received Banerjee will be losing from Nandigram, and her own people told him that she is 'searching for another seat to contest'. 'She will know it but it is certain that she is losing in Nandigram,' Nadda added.

The BJP chief who is confident that the saffron party will form its government in the state said that the results will be astounding. He further said that the people of Bengal are eager to dismiss the rule of Mamata Banerjee. It is clear from the first and second phase of the polls that BJP will win and Mamata Banerjee led Trinamool Congress TMC will be ousted, said Nadda.

The State witnessed a high-profile battle on April 1, during the second phase of the West Bengal elections, as two-time Chief Minister of West Bengal Banerjee locked horns with once her closest aide and confidant and now her closest rival and foe, Suvendu Adhikari, the sitting MLA of Nandigram who contested on a BJP ticket.

Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi in an election rally questioned Banerjee whether she will be filing nominations from another constituency, "Didi, are you going to fill nomination on another seat? First you went to Nandigram, and the people gave you an answer! Wherever you go, the people of Bengal are ready to give you the right answer," PM Modi said during a rally at Uluberia on Thursday in West Bengal.

The TMC however, dismissed the speculations and said that she is winning from Nandigram comfortably.

TMC MP Derek O'Brien while hitting out at Nadda said, "We have won Nandigram. There is no other constituency, it's all BJP's mind games."

Responding to Modi, TMC leader Mahua Moitra said that the Prime Minister should worry about Varanasi seat because Banerjee will contest elections against him from here. Varanasi is the parliamentary seat of PM Modi which he won first time in 2014 and retained in 2019.

"Contesting from second seat? PM Modi jabs Mamata Banerjee Yes Mr. Prime Minister, she will. And it will be Varanasi! So go get your armour on," she said sarcastically.

Meanwhile, the TMC's Twitter handle has asked Modi to retract from misleading people and challenged him to look for a safer seat for the 2024 Election which he is contesting from Varanasi.

"Didi is winning Nandigram. The question of her fighting from another seat doesn't arise. Narendra Modi Ji, retract from your efforts to mislead people before they see your lies with the end of nomination in WB. Look for a safer seat in 2024, as you will be challenged in Varanasi."
