Itanagar: A 22-year-old labourer was found murdered near an under-construction building here, Police said on Thursday.

The body of Prabash Doley, was found close to the Bharat Petroleum outlet in the Saturday Market area at Chimpu, on Wednesday night, Capital Superintendent of Police (SP) Rohit Rajbir Singh informed.

Prabash, son of Bongali Doley and a native of Misamora village in Assam’s Dhemaji district, was temporarily residing in Sood Village in Naharlagun.

Following a written complaint lodged by the victim’s uncle, Nandeswar Doley, the Chimpu Police registered a case under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). A police team led by senior officers reached the scene and recovered the body from a roadside drain, the SP said in a statement. The accused, Tai John (26), son of Tai Paro, hailing from Rakso village in Kra Dadi district and residing near the Saturday Market area, was arrested from his residence located opposite the crime scene.

He operates the 7 Brothers Car Wash in the locality. Police said the arrest was made with minimal force despite resistance.

A forensic team from the Regional Forensic Science Laboratory (RFSL) at Banderdewa, inspected the crime scene. Several pieces of biological and physical evidence, including the suspected murder weapon and blood-stained items, were collected and documented using the eSakshya app.
