ITANAGAR: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu and Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein on Friday mourned the sudden demise of young journalist Mintu Tamuli who died on Thursday evening due to cardiac arrest.

The 32-year-old Tamuli, who was associated with several electronic Arunachal Pradesh , Pema Khandu , journalistedia organisations including News18, Prime Time, Pratidin Time, CDCN and Arunbhoomi, reportedly died from a cardiac arrest. He had lost his mother last year.

Originally from New Rowmari in Assam, Tamuli was born in Arunachal Pradesh and raised in various parts of the State.

The State media fraternity said that it has lost a true son of the soil in heart and spirit.

"We pray for the peace of the departed's soul and the family he leaves behind," a statement said.

Pema Khandu in a condolence letter to Mintu's father on Friday said, "I am shocked and deeply saddened by the news of the untimely demise of Late Mintu Tamuli, a young and promising journalist of the state who died yesterday due to cardiac arrest."

Associated with several electronic media organisations including Frontier TV, News18 Assam NE, Pratidin Time, Times Now, Arunachal Vision, CDCN, and Arunbhoomi, Late Tamuli was just 32 years of age. Late Tamuli was born and brought up in Arunachal Pradesh while he originally hailed from New Rowmari in Assam, Khandu said.

"I am told, he had lost his mother early this year and I can very well feel the pain the bereaved family members might be going through now. I believe, leaving this mortal world will not diminish the love and affection showered on him by the people and his soul will remain immortal. So would his footsteps and the contributions made to the state and the media fraternity," the chief minister said.

"I know this would be the most trying times for the family members to cope with the irreparable loss. I hope my humble words of consolation would ease the grief even if a little. Me, my family, colleagues in the government and the people of Arunachal Pradesh extend our solidarity with the grieving family and share the pain inflicted by one of the greatest truths of life," Khandu said.

"I pray Lord Buddha to bestow you with the strength to bear the irreparable loss. May his soul rest in peace in heavenly abode. With deepest condolences!" the message further added.

Deputy Chief Minister in a message here Friday evening said, "I am deeply saddened to learn of the untimely demise of promising journalist Mintu Tamuli, who passed away Thursday evening.

"Tamuli was associated with several electronic media organisations and was also an active member of Arunachal Pradesh Literary Society. He has departed at a time when the media industry needed his skills and especially his untiring professional guidance," Mein said.

"Being a dedicated journalist, he will be remembered for constantly championing access to information, media freedom and freedom of expression. His untimely demise has left a very big gap which will take time to be filled," the deputy chief minister said.

"My condolences to his family members, colleagues and media fraternity of the state. I pray to God for strength to endure this difficult moment. May his soul rest in eternal peace," Mein added in his message.
