Arunachal Speaker, Legislators Visit Historic Old State Assembly Building

ITANAGAR: Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly (APLA) Speaker Tesam Pongte on Friday visited the historic old Assembly building in Naharlagun.

The visit, part of internal APLA activities, included a tour of the main hall, the old Nokmey Namati Hall, and the Speaker's chamber. The Speaker was accompanied by MLAs Techi Kaso, Dr. Mohesh Chai, and Chakat Aboh, along with the Secretary and other APLA officials.

Speaking to the media, Speaker Pongte emphasized the historical significance of the old Assembly building, which served as the heart of Arunachal Pradesh's legislative process from 1975 to 2017. He acknowledged the building's role in shaping the state's history and its importance as a symbol of Arunachal Pradesh's legislative heritage.

The Speaker also acknowledged that the building served as an alma mater for numerous past and present members of the Assembly. He expressed his satisfaction that the building is now being utilized by the Tomo Riba Institute of Health & Medical Sciences (TRIHMS) for a noble cause.

As part of the visit, Speaker Pongte distributed fruits to indoor patients at TRIHMS. He and his colleagues expressed gratitude to the TRIHMS administration for their excellent coordination and support in organizing the visit.
