ITANAGAR: A team from Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA) NERIST Cell, accompanied by local farmers, visited the Government Fisheries Department at Emchi, Doimukh, Arunachal Pradesh, to gain insights into advanced fish farming techniques and sustainable aquaculture practices.
The programme, conducted under the guidance of Prof. T. Patel, Regional Coordinator, UBA NERIST, was led by John Engti, Project Assistant, UBA NERIST.
The primary objective was to provide local farmers with practical knowledge on modern fish farming techniques to enhance productivity and sustainability.
The visit began with an introductory session by Fisheries Department officials, who provided an overview of the department’s activities, available resources, and government schemes supporting fisheries development.
Officials conducted demonstrations on key aquaculture techniques, including pond management, fish breeding, water quality maintenance, and disease control.
Farmers were also given a guided tour of fishponds, where they observed practical applications of the discussed methods.
