Haflong: The three-day-long Asomi Bohagi Mela organized by the District Mission Management Unit under the Assam State Rural Livelihoods Mission began at Haflong on Wednesday.
R.K. Kamalendu Sinha, Chief Operating Officer, Skill, ASRLM, inaugurated the Asomi Bohagi Mela in the presence of huge gatherings at Lal field. This was followed by the state anthem and inaugural session, which was attended by Joy Das, State Project Manager. Skill, ASRLM Bikash Saikia, BDO, Diyungbra ITBP Block. Rashmita Saikia, Senior Scientist, KVK, Haflong, and Nikim Hengna, District Project Manager, as guests.
The vibrant event is to showcase Assam’s rich cultural heritage through traditional music, dance, cuisines, and crafts and empower local communities by promoting high-quality products made by Self-Help Groups (SHGs).
Spectacular traditional and Bihu dances by the members of SHGs and others were the centre of attraction of the event.
Explaining the aims of the event, one member of the District Mission Management Unit said this event is primarily aimed at encouraging the members of SHGs in particular.
