Assam: Digboi Co-District Commissioner’s office inaugurated at Tingrai

DIGBOI: “August 13, 2025 has been scripted in golden words in the administrative history of Oil town Digboi,” said IAS Swapneel Paul the Deputy Commissioner of Tinsukia. The official was addressing the congregation of people following the inauguration of the office of Digboi Co-District Commissioner here at Tingrai.

Following the two great years of Digboi, 1866 and 1901, when discovery of crude oil was made and drilling of the first commercial oil well done respectively in Digboi, the year 2025 witnessed the third great event which would also be scripted in golden words in the administrative landscape of Digboi.

The temporary setup of the new co-district administrative complex at Tingrai stadium premises was formally inaugurated by Assam’s Cabinet Minister Rupesh Gowala in presence of local MLA Suren Phukan, DC Tinsukia, Rahul Doley, the Co-district Commissioner, and other dignitaries.

“The creation of co-district administration offices after delimitation is a significant step toward decentralized governance in Assam. It ensures faster service delivery, better law enforcement, focused development, and greater citizen satisfaction,” said the minister during his address after the inauguration.

Meanwhile lauding the efforts of the government led by Dr Himanta Biswas Sarma, Phukan said that the administrative reforms of the BJP government had been the testament of its commitment to people and ease of life and delivery of services to the common people at their door steps.

Co-District Commissioner Rahul Dole in his welcome address earlier reiterated that the inauguration of the co-district administrative office intended to bring governance closer to the people and ensure effective service delivery.
