NUMALIGARH: A unique event was held at the newly-established institution ‘Paduli’ in Bordihingia Village of the Greater Kamargaon region, under the Bokakhat Co-district of Golaghat yesterday. The event was organized to celebrate the 61st birthday of eminent educator, writer, and principal of Numaligarh Higher Secondary School Mohen Saikia, as well as the launch of his latest book titled ‘Numaligarh and Deupahar.’
The ceremony took place at the Kamargaon Library Hall, where the retired headmaster of Kamargaon Higher Secondary School Jatin Kakoti, and Secretary of Paduli Mrinaldeep Hazarika played key roles in the event. The welcome address was delivered by President of Paduli Basanta Dhekiyal Phukan. The programme began with a musical performance by talented singer Ashlesha Saikia. As the chief guest, Dr Gayatri Bora Kakoti, Head of the English Department at Kamargaon College, gave a profound and insightful speech, highlighting Mohen Saikia’s contribution to education and literature. Additionally, Dr Bora Kakoti launched Saikia’s new book, ‘Numaligarh and Deupahar,’ which is his 15th book.
Among the distinguished guests were retired vice-principal of Kamargaon College Shobhan Chandra Saikia, retired headmaster of Kamargaon Mohura Higher Secondary School Purnakanta Baruah, President of Kamargaon Sakha Sahitya Sabha Bhadreswar Chetia, Dilip Phukan from Bongaon Chola Higher Secondary School, Jitu Sharma Rajkhowa, President of Assam State Journalist Association, Bubul Dutta, President of Bokakhat Sub-Division Journalist Association, and others, who also delivered speeches at the event. During the ceremony, Paduli honoured Mohen Saikia with the prestigious title of ‘Siksha Ratna’ for his invaluable contributions to education.
