Boko: A team of the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), Guwahati, recovered two pieces of ivory (total 14 kilograms) from Khatira village near Bamunigaon in Boko on Friday night along with arresting two persons and handing them over to the Bamunigaon Forest Office under the West Kamrup Forest Division. The smugglers were arrested by a team of the DRI on a tip-off on Friday night, Bamunigaon Forest Officer Aminul Islam said. The arrested were identified as Suren Rabha of Barbakra in Chaygaon and Shankar Boro of Chakrapani in Boko, respectively. The smugglers were smuggling the teeth at Rs 27,000 per kg, Forest Officer Aminul Islam said. The accused is being questioned at the Bamunigaon Forest Office. The arrested individuals have been booked under multiple sections of the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972, including Sections 39(01, 5), 40(1, 2, 2B), 44, 48A, and 49, all of which are punishable under Section 51 of the Act.
