Assam: Farmers Successfully Complete Three-Day Training at NERFMTTI, Biswanath

BISWANATH CHARIALI: A three-day training programme, organized from February 17 to 19 at the campus of North Eastern Region Farm Machinery Training and Testing Institute (NERFMTTI), Biswanath was successfully conducted for a group of 60 farmers (30 each from Biswanath and Sonitpur districts). The programme was organized by the State Agricultural Management and Training Institution (SAMETI) in collaboration with the NERFMTTI, Biswanath and the Department of Agriculture, Biswanath.

The training was carried out in two separate batches, each consisting of 30 farmers, focusing on two key topics including Repair and Maintenance of Farm Machinery Equipment and the Uses of Drones in Agriculture. The programme was designed to provide both theoretical knowledge and hands-on practical experience, equipping farmers with valuable skills in maintaining and repairing farm machinery as well as utilizing drone technology in agricultural practices. The training also covered the Repair and Maintenance of Farm Machinery and Equipment, introduction to Farm Machinery Maintenance, importance of regular maintenance and safety precautions, the Basic Tools and Equipment for Farm Machinery Repair and overview of hand tools (wrenches, screwdrivers, pliers) and power tools, proper use and maintenance of diagnostic equipment, Preventive Maintenance of Farm Machinery and the techniques for lubrication, oiling, checking belts, chains, pulleys, and rust prevention, tractor, Power Tiller Maintenance and Repair and engine maintenance (oil changes, air filters, cooling system), transmission.

The inaugural session of the training was chaired by P Kamalabai, Director of NERFMTTI, while key dignitaries Pradip Talukder, SDAO, Biswanath, Rajneesh Patel, Agricultural Engineer and Training Coordinator, NERFMTTI, Bingkong Loi Bodo, BTM, Baghmara, Hiranya Borah, CP, ATMA, and other trainers from NERFMTTI were present. The farmers from both the districts were welcomed and briefed on the objectives and expected outcomes of the training programme by Asmita Paul, Assistant Agriculture Engineer, and others.

The training concluded successfully on February 19, with a certificate distribution ceremony. P Kamalabai, Director, FMTTI and Baneswar Bey, DAO, Biswanath awarded the trainees with certificates from both NERFMTTI and SAMETI, Assam.
