NAGAON: As part of his two-day visit to Nagaon district, Assam Governor Lakshman Acharya today attended various events, including a visit to the Mahamrityunjaya Temple in Barhampur, the birthplace of Guru Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardeva at Batadrava, and an inspection of the under-construction project - Batadrava cultural complex at Batadroba here.
The Governor also visited the Srimanta Sankar Mission Blind School at Barhampur, where he interacted with students, teachers, and staff. He emphasized the importance of providing equal opportunities and education to all, including the underprivileged and differently-abled.
During his visit, the Governor distributed essential items to the students and encouraged them to pursue their education with dedication. He also appealed to the district administration to prioritize education and ensure that all eligible beneficiaries receive benefits under various government schemes.
In a review meeting with top officials of Nagaon district, the Governor emphasized the need for effective implementation of various government schemes, including the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Gramin) and the Amrit Sarovar scheme. He directed the officials to monitor the progress of these schemes regularly and ensure that benefits reach the intended beneficiaries.
The meeting was attended by Minister of Transport, Fisheries, Excise, and IT Keshab Mahanta, Nagaon-Batadrava MLA Rupak Sharma, District Commissioner Narendra Kumar Shah, and other senior officials of Nagaon district.
