TANGLA: Former student leader and prominent face of Tangla town, Kamal Choudhury, who was recently appointed by the Bodoland Territorial Council authorities, was formally sworn in as the chairman of the Tangla Municipal Board (TMB) in a ceremony held at the TMB office on Monday.
The event was attended by Khalingduar MCLA Dilip Boro, former Paneri MLA Kumud Das, TMB Executive Officer Partha Pratim Saikia, former TMB Chairman Malai Kumar Lahiri, ward commissioners, and local residents, who welcomed the leadership change with optimism.
The oath was administered to Choudhury by Additional District Commissioner of Udalguri, Laxmi Kutum. In his inaugural address, Choudhury expressed gratitude for the trust placed in him and outlined his vision for the future of Tangla town. Emphasizing transparency, accountability, and inclusive development, he pledged to work closely with the public and municipal officials to address the pressing civic issues faced by residents.
“My goal is to ensure that the voices of the people are heard and reflected in every decision we make. From improving basic infrastructure to ensuring cleanliness and better public services, we will work as a team to bring meaningful change,” Choudhury said.
The newly appointed chairman also highlighted the need for collaborative efforts between government bodies and the public to tackle challenges such as drainage cleanliness, waste management, and urban planning. He stressed the importance of youth involvement in civic affairs and encouraged young citizens to participate actively in welfare activities.
