DHUBRI : International May Day was celebrated by a social and cultural activist of Dhubri, Dipankar Majumdar in an unique way on Thursday. On the day, Majumdar not only recalled the contribution of wage earners, but also went out to distribute sleepers who had been working in scorching heat with barefoot.
Majumdar has long been actively celebrating many international and national day like Mother’s day, teacher’s day, environment day, May Day and other occasions in a different and unique way, which sends message to the people loud and clear about the importance of the each of particular day.
Talking to The Sentinel, Majumdar stated that it was a method to convey workers and labourers that people always support them and value their unwavering and tireless efforts to advance the economy.
“But reality speaks different story as if our responsibility towards them often ends with paying their wages. I hope my move may inspire others to show similar gestures on certain occasions and days of national and international importance,” Majumdar added.
