BOKAKHAT:  The first phase of the Panchayat election in the Bokakhat co-district was held on Friday without any untoward incidents reported up to the time of filing this report. Voters queued up at polling stations from early morning, and enthusiasm remained high throughout the day. With 1,39,267 total electors, Bokakhat co-district administration has been divided into 4 zones and 20 sectors for smooth conduct of polling. Voting was organized at 204 stations across the subdivision. Of these, 39 were exclusively managed by all-women teams of presiding and polling officers. A total of 816 presiding and polling officers were deployed, with an additional reserve of 100 officers.

Election was held in 20 gram Panchayats and vote counting has been scheduled for May 11, beginning at 8:00 AM. This year’s voting was carried out using ballot papers, which led to some delay in the voting process. By 11:30 AM, 25.72 percent of electors had cast their votes.
