Hatsingimari: In a spine chilling accident in South Salmara Mankachar district of Assam on Friday (January 1) one woman died on the spot and four people were severely injured.

The deceased woman has been identified as Fojitan Bibi (30-year-old).

The accident took place at Phulbari area of Meghalaya, while an auto rickshaw carrying as many as 5 passengers was hit by a speeding Xylo car coming from opposite direction.

The entire scene of the horrific accident was captured in CCTV camera installed in a nearby building.

In the meanwhile, locals took the injured people to the Solace hospital in Goalpara, Assam.

Currently all the victims are now undergoing treatment at the hospital.

In an another road accident that took place near Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border- over 17 people were injured among 25 who were in a picnic trip on the first day of the New Year.

And on December 25 in a tragic road accident a person named Abhiram Rajak who was an employee of Tara Tea Estate had died on the spot after a swift car hit the person in Doom Dooma town, Tinsukia district of Assam. After the accident the driver of the swift reportedly taken the deceased person into his car and later surrendered in Roing police station in Arunachal.

On the other hand another road mishap took place at Na-pukhuri in Tinsukia where a bike rider lost his life on the spot and another got injured after a truck hit the bike at the Tinsukia- Duliajan connecting road. The driver of the truck fled immediately from the spot after the accident.

According to National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB)'s 2019 report Assam has recorded the maximum casualties from road mishaps which caused 3245 deaths.
