Assam: Road safety committee meet held in Sadiya

DOOMDOOMA,: The first road safety committee meeting was held on Friday under the chairmanship of Co-District Commissioner Manas Jyoti Nath in the conference hall of the office of the Co-District Commissioner at the initiative of the Sadiya Co-District administration.

The meeting was attended by the departmental heads and staff of various government departments. The Co-District Commissioner barred the pet owners from leaving their animals on the roads from Saikhowa to national highway No. 115 as well as in different rural areas of the same Co-District as a preventive measure against road accidents. He advised the Gaon Panchayats to take adequate measures for road safety.

Apart from this, the meeting identified the reasons behind frequent road traffic accidents taking place in those areas.

The Sadiya Co-District Commissioner directed the National Highways Infrastructure Development Corporation and Public Works Department (PWD) of Sadiya Co-District to install adequate footprints and reflectors on the road. On the other hand, he directed the Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL) and PWD department to dismantle the wayside posts lying scattered there immediately.

Co-District Commissioner Manash Jyoti Nath also directed the Sadiya Municipal Board and the police to take necessary steps against those who wrongly park their vehicles in non-parking zones of the town.

PWD Engineer informed that altogether 22 numbers of road traffic accidents took place in Sadiya Co-District from from January to November, 2024.
