BOKAKHAT: The historic higher education institution of Bokakhat, Yogananda Deva Satradhikar Goswami College, popularly known as JDSG College, will hold the closing ceremony of its diamond jubilee celebration on October 16 and 17. Extensive preparations are currently underway at the college for this significant event. Established in 1964, the college has now completed 61 years.

As part of the diamond jubilee closing celebrations, the college’s alumni forum is undertaking the initiative to publish a commemorative souvenir. The editorial committee of the alumni souvenir on Wednesday held a press conference where they appealed to all former students who had studied at the college from 1964 to the present to send typed write-ups (DTP format) to smritigrantha.alluminijdsg2025@gmail.com by August 31.

The two-day diamond jubilee event will include intellectual and academic discussions, departmental competitions among students, a cultural procession, a public meeting, and cultural programmes, informed the college Principal, Dr Jayanta Gogoi.

Dr Gogoi further informed that the Chief Minister of Assam, Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, Education Minister Dr Ranoj Pegu, Finance Minister Ajanta Neog, and local MLA and Cabinet Minister Atul Bora were expected to attend the public meeting of the closing ceremony. The principal has sought the cooperation, suggestions, and support of all former and current students, as well as the intellectual community of Bokakhat, to make the event a grand success.
