* Nilut Swargiary: Will give attention to grievances of journalists

KOKRAJHAR: Executive Member (EM) in charge of IPR (Information & Public Relations), BTC (Bodoland Territorial Council), Dr Nilut Swargiary inaugurated the new conference hall in the office of the department at Bodofa Nwgwr, here on Friday. On the occasion, he also released the 'Bodoland Laithun', a monthly newspaper published by the department after some gap due to prolonged 'Model Code of Conduct' in the BTC region.

As part of the programme, the EM Swargiary formally inaugurated the newly built conference hall of the department and interacted with the media persons of Kokrajhar Press Club. He assured the gathering that he will take all necessary measures for the welfare of the journalists, and added that he has been in contact with the Minister of State of the department in this regard.

Swargiary also said that media persons play an important role in disseminating the information of government to the public. He said without the media persons, it was not possible to bring the developmental works and programmes to take to public about their plans and objectives. He also said the Pramod Boro led BTR had been working for the development of the region for all communities and accordingly, they have been concentrating their mind for the people of the region.

The EM said the BTR government had been giving attention on the establishment of journalists' colony in Kokrajhar, enhancement of pension, insurance policy, financial aid to the ailing journalists and other problems of them. He said he will take necessary initiatives for the journalists' award based on their best services during the celebration of Bodoland Day annually and also assured that they will earmarked required amount for journalist' exposure tour for BTC journalists.
