Heavy security deployed at Khyndai Lad anticipating KSU sit-in demonstration

SHILLONG: Security measures have been heightened at Khyndai Lad ahead of the Khasi Students' Union's proposed sit-in demonstration, despite the East Khasi Hills district administration denying permission for the protest due to recent violence in Shillong.

A heavy contingent of security personnel-including the Rapid Action Force, CRPF, and the state police's Special Operations Team-has been deployed in and around Khyndai Lad to prevent unauthorized gatherings and enforce the administration's restrictions on the demonstration.

The East Khasi Hills administration has urged the KSU to respect its order denying permission for the agitation and to help maintain peace and public order.
