Shillong: Meghalaya Health Minister Dr. M. Ampareen Lyngdoh inspected the under-construction Doldegre Medical College in Tura to assess on-ground progress and ensure the timely execution of this flagship healthcare project in the Garo Hills region.
Accompanied by senior government officials, Dr. Lyngdoh took stock of the ongoing works and expressed satisfaction over key developments. Phase 1 of the project is reportedly 75% complete, while work under Phase 2 is progressing steadily. Officials also informed that the water supply infrastructure has reached the site and is expected to be operational shortly.
The 1.7 km approach road to the college is 70% complete, and the Essential Services Supply (ESS) building is ready. However, the commissioning of the ESS awaits power supply through a 33KVA line, for which the file is currently under process in the Finance Department for deposit to the Meghalaya Energy Corporation Limited (MeECL).
While the initial deadline for completion was December 2025, authorities have now revised the timeline to March 2026 due to unavoidable delays.
The visit was aimed at reviewing key milestones, resolving project bottlenecks, and reaffirming the government’s commitment to bolstering medical education and improving healthcare infrastructure across the region.
