SHILLONG: West Garo Hills police rescued a kidnapped businessman following an armed encounter with the abductors near Danangre Songma under Dadenggre police station limits. In the operation, two kidnappers sustained injuries—one of whom later succumbed—while another was arrested.

The rescue mission was launched after Rasik Hussain filed an FIR at Damal Asim police station on March 20, reporting that his father, Ruvi Hussain, had been abducted by unknown individuals carrying firearms and daggers while they were transporting cattle near Danangre Songma. Acting swiftly, SF-10 commandos and police teams from Dadenggre and Damal Asim initiated a search operation and tracked the kidnappers to their hideout at Dipogre Asim Chiring under Damal Asim police station in the early hours of March 21.
