Meghalaya: MBoSE declares Class XII results: urban schools dominate the merit list

SHILLONG: The Meghalaya Board of School Education (MBoSE) declared the Class XII results for the Arts, Science, Commerce, and Vocational streams on Monday, bringing a wave of excitement across the state as thousands of students received their academic outcomes. Out of a total of 29,278 students who appeared in the examinations, 24,039 passed, reflecting an overall strong performance.

This year, 22,835 students appeared in the Arts stream, with 18,736 clearing the exams, recording a pass percentage of 82.05. In the Science stream, 3,922 students took the exams, of which 3,253 passed, resulting in a pass percentage of 82.94. Commerce saw 2,501 candidates, and 2,033 succeeded, registering a pass percentage of 81.28. The vocational stream, though smaller in number with only 20 candidates, reported the highest pass percentage at 85, with 17 students successfully qualifying.

The top positions across all three major streams—Arts, Science, and Commerce—were dominated by students from prominent educational institutions in urban areas, particularly in Shillong. In the Arts stream, Albert Mate and Idawanplishisha Swer, both from St. Edmund’s Higher Secondary School, Shillong, jointly secured the first position with 455 marks each. Nelly Mary Khymdeit of St. Paul’s Higher Secondary School, Nongpoh, took the second position, followed by Safilia Wahlang of St. Anthony’s Higher Secondary School, Shillong, in third.

In the Science stream, Saptarshi Bhattacharjee from Laban Bengalee Boys’ Higher Secondary School, Shillong, emerged as the topper with 483 marks. He was followed by Drishana Roychoudhury and Shweta Sarma, both from St. Anthony’s Higher Secondary School, Shillong, who secured the second and third positions, respectively.

The Commerce stream was led by Disha Chokhani of St. Anthony’s Higher Secondary School, Shillong, who scored 481 marks to claim the top spot. Nishan Talukdar and Dipankar Barua, both from Laban Bengalee Boys’ Higher Secondary School, secured the second and third positions.
