Tura: In light of the global pandemic, the Government of Meghalaya has decided to not hold any selection test for the Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) and Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate (HSSLC) examination of 2021. In a notification issued by the Education department of Meghalaya, they mentioned that they will hold both the exams during March and April of next year. The dates of the same will be finalised by the Meghalaya Board of School Education (MBOSE).

The notification was issued by D.P. Wahlang (IAS), the principal secretary to the Government of Meghalaya, Education Department.

The notification stated that no selection test will be held for appearing in both of the exams. The notification asked all the schools, including the unaffiliated ones and District Education officials to not conduct any tests at their level.

The decision has been taken keeping in mind the present situation in the state due to COVID-19. The notification also said that the students who had failed in the selection tests conducted in 2019, can directly appear for the final SSLC and HSSLC exam to be held in March-April 2021. The private students can too appear for the exam after following the given procedure

However, the notification has stated that this a "one-time exemption." The decision has been taken to ensure the safety and security of all the stakeholders related to the examinations. The students who fail in the final SSLC and HSSLC Examination of 2021, may have to seat for a selection test next year. The current guidelines might not be followed next year.
